A Seed

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved. (Psalm 55:22 KJV) This month, I want to challenge us to Cast Our Burden Upon the Lord!

According to dictionary.com, cast means to throw or hurl and burden means that which is carried; load. We are to throw or hurl the heavy load that is too much for us to carry upon the Lord. The Lord knows about our burden and never intended us to carry a heavy load.

The Lord wants our burden! Are we willing to give everything over entirely to him? Why are we holding on to something that the Lord wants? The Lord wants our burden so we can walk in total freedom.

When we try to carry something that was never intended for us to carry it causes us to be tired and worn out. After giving the Lord the burden, we must rest completely in the Lord. "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me-watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly." Matthew 11:28-29 (The Message)

We must take our burden to the Lord and leave it there. He knows all about our burden and can carry them! Let's give them to Him!

Father, we pray you would cause us to rest in you! We are honest this burden is entirely too much for us to carry. We are tired, frustrated, and worn out. We make a conscious decision to give you the burden and leave it there. We love and trust you! Thank you for easing our load! In Jesus Name, we pray according to your will, purpose, and plan for our lives. Amen!
